All over Canada there are so many crazy tales of strange animals ,even the nations capitol Ottawa has everything from Sasquatch to a unknown species of weasel and several possibly unidentified fish species and birds and bats and insects, that may be unknown to the region or possibly science as well as flying saucers the whole gang of oddities has been listed for your entertainment.
The aliens I make fun of a bit and do not take it seriously although I have no problem scientific wise or other wise with the possible existence of them, however if they are real? I know I could not prove it or capture one so I leave that to the researchers of UFO's and focus on animals which I could maybe prove exist.

I have several + times came across animals and fish and insects still till this day that I cannot identify and this is why I am so in to this subject, I know that scientist often are missing local fauna that inhabit the area known or unknown to the region or in rare cases to science.
Most people would not know the difference from one species of uncommon fish to another or a rat to a mole or what ever and this is why as well rare species that inhabit areas known or possibly unknown to science in a small percentage of cases are not reported ,the people simply do not know what it is and forget about it.

This site is for Skeptics and people that believe, my job is by the time a skeptic reads this site they will be less skeptical and for the ones that except them as real then they will be less real to them, many of them reported can be explained by the time they read through all the evidence and I think it is a good balance for both.
Lake monsters to Bigfoot and hundreds of more odd cryptozoology reports, the author has been researching this subject for decades and actually witnessed one species that is not known to science or a species known that is smaller then any of the recorded species and also a small darter fish and a sculpin and stickleback as well a few odd insects and a large bat none of these yet to this date have been indentified 100 percent.

Many people reading a claim like that would be skeptical and that is understandable, however there is a reason for this ,the author spent his entire life mostly on the water and in the woods and a strange event when he was a young guy, he witnessed a small weasel like mammal while he was walking by the river that to this date has not been able to be indentified and this and many more animal life he witnessed going on bodies of water and in the woods and this interest in wildlife made him always look for animals and keep notes, especially of odd animals he sees and fish species and his interest in animals of all sorts is very high and loves them all.
His main expertise is freshwater fish and animal species and knows a great deal of the saltwater species as well and most marine life and from other countries across the globe he studies animals and other fish species as well.
In the early 70s,the author was hunting up greens creek in canada on one of his patrols looking for giant suckers and course species that will go up these waters year around , fall and spring they go up the most in these creeks.
He came upon a pool that had this amazing pretty darter fish ,the author new right away it was a darter however he could not indentify it and knew it was not any of the common species, he watched it for about 5 minutes and made mental notes of the species as best he could and went home and drawed the creature.
The author started in his younger years collecting data on all the fish species and animal species in the region and doing angling and trapping experiments on how to capture them and in several bodies of water he has captured species not listed to the lake or region in some cases at the time and still some to this date are not listed in the region or body of water, including a ling cod in Missippi lake with only 3 ever caught so far that the author can find any note of and years later a landlocked arctic char in a small lake in Quebec right near ottawa that none had ever been caught in the lake before or since and none of the numerous locals had any answer to how this fish had never been witnessed in the lake before also he has a record of a captured sucker species a spotted bar sucker not known to live here and last recorded in Ont in the 1800's and several other minnow and sucker species not listed here and a few panfish species and a few other odd catches not known or rarely listed..
The Quebec government confirmed there is no known char in the lake, the author caught it with a small white jig and was the most awsome looking fish the author has ever seen and to this date they are not listed as a species in that lake, the author will not say the lake it is a very small body of water and would be easily stripped of life if everyone started fishing on it.
The author had caught and listed already in the region as a young fellow over 80 species of fish and witnessed many birds and amphibian species, snakes ,mammals and fish species captures by angling or by minnow traps or other people with photo of odd species they caught or reported catching in this region.
Other one of a kind odd and rare species the author has caught or witnessed or read about their capture in the papers sometimes, including bowfin only 4 captured in 200 years in the ottawa river and rare minnow species and a few that are not known to inhabit the region , 1 atlantic salmon, 2 american shad and one minnow species they even claim is extinct.
The eastern silvery minnow" Hybognathus regius" which it is not, the author has witnessed them as of several years ago jumping in a pool in the lower rideau river, they have always been a rare species in the lower rideau and years can go by withought you catching one in a minnow trap or seeing one although they are not extinct as they claim and infact are common in some areas of the ottawa river as well.
The author by a early age as you can see was doing experiments on odd fish species and collecting samples and veiwing many species of animal life from bird to insects of many sorts and he was doing experiments on rare or odd course fish species that were not being done by anyone else and captured many odd species of fish and since some were not known to inhabit the region then he figured maybe more animals are not known in the region or maybe not known at all and went on a life time quest looking on water systems for ,birds ,fish species insects unknown to science or the area and has got lucky a few times ,although still to this date none are excepted maybe after some research they could be and maybe some scientific group may help the author solve any of these mysteries.
Dar's Darter
Number one Dar's darter, a small darter fish that he witnessed in a greens creek in Canada, it was near 3 inches in length with a flaming reddish orange tinge and darker reddish orange tinge in some spots and bluish-greenish dots with also some all black area in it, this is as best as he can remember what it looked like above.
At one time he had a drawing of it which he cannot find, he is one of those packrats and tend to shove files all over lol and some day maybe if he can find the original until then this is as best as he can recall, that was over 30 years ago and he has never seen it since
A small Sculpin like species that may be unknown to the region or to science that is in a small pond off beechwood road in Ottawa Ont and ,may also be in the small lake beside it ,there is also carp and wild goldfish species, pike, bass, several sunfish species, logperch ,perch in these two little bodies of water and eels as well , as well as a stickleback that may be unknown to science or the region or to that body of water he has never been able to find the species listed for this lake and pit , these are the species the author had witnessed and maybe usefull for research although they may be all known varities they may not know that these little bodies of water have such a abundance of species.
The Author suspects the darter species is highly unlikley unknown to science or at least to the region and watched it for near 5 minutes, darters some times get different color at spawn time, males can get brighter colors on the fins or different spots , this fish was witnessed guarding a nest it seemed, the rocks around the spot were hard to see clearly ,the water was stained and the fish seemed to have made a nest on small flat little rocks some with moss on them it looked like it was behind a small bolder in the stream around a riffle area with a bit of a dip in depth on the deflective side of the current of it.
The darter does not match any known darter in canada or the region that the author can find in spawning or regular time of year and it is not any of the known to the author darters of the region, channel darter, fantail darter, Iowa darter, johnny darter ,tesselated darter, these are the only species the author has witnessed or captured in this region over his life time, a few other species the author finds looks like the darter a bit in a few streams in the states and they are close to this darter in size and looks in spawning time or in normal condition and only a live speciman would solve this little mystery for the Author and so this species is on the fence,it may be known however it is not a species known to live in this region minimum.
Although a few species from the states it could be , like this one" Etheostoma tippecanoe" , this species looks very much like what the author witnessed except for the blue dots missing and dorsal fins slightly different and the author thought some parts were more light in color in some parts of the body in the orange and redish tinge ,although maybe the water shimmering caused it to shine more then in photo's of this species and besides these little differences it is near a perfect match.
The author has no idea how this species could be here?
This is interesting in it self, even if it is known then it is not known to live here and still is interesting for science.
The author loves all species, especialy course fish and rare species he finds interesting and looked through all available information and to this date this fish cannot be indentified 100 percent , the Sculpin as well, the color of the sculpin was a odd gray and had a odd shaped head that seemed different from sculpins he witnessed in the past ,although the water was not clear tottaly and possible blurred some of the fishes true color or head shape.
The stickleback spotted was in unclear water as well and the amount of spines on the stickleback could not be known with the visibility, the only known stickleback to inhabit this broad region is a 3 spine and nine spine stickleback anything else may be unknown to the region or yes possibly to science?
Although all these species may be known? The darter fish still defies complete identification for the author and all the other fish species in those two ponds may be known likely and the clarity prohibits the author to know for sure what species the sculpin and stickleback were?
Several insects the author has not been able to find a match for, one a dragon fly with copper wings and a body with metallic little flecks of silverfish greenish and copper tinge that was of good size, like a large average black dragonfly, it was very cute looking and in all the authors years of being on the water and woods he has never witnessed a dragon fly of this color combo.
A huge fly over 1 inch in body length way back in the late 70s found dead that was shown to the author and he kept it , the wings were not full length and some had been eaten away, and looked exactly in body shape and design like a giant house fly of gargantuan proportions that was flushed down the drain by a parent by accident,it was not a June bug or any other odd looking insect from Canada that the author is aware of, the author also spent hundreds of hours checking insects in books and at the time could not find a match and the net later on and cannot find a match still till this date.
Huge bat species still no possitive identity?
The author does not think this species is unknown? However it may be that some bat species get larger then what is known or it was off course?
A very large bat species with a wing span of possibly around 30 inches or more from tip to tip was witnessed by the Author and several people not far from the Ottawa river , the bat was flying amongst seagulls and had near the same wing span roughly as some of the average sized ones flying around ,others were larger then it by a fair degree maybe 25 to 30 percent more wing span, however not as wide as the average individual and slighly shorter give or take 6 inches if tip to tip 3 inches on each side maybe at most in wing span, the author could not positivly identify the several gull species it was getting dark.
The only bat the author can find that is supposed to reach southern and eastern canada sometimes of good size is the hoary bat, it has a wing span of 12 to 18 inches this animal was at least a foot in wing span longer and for sure and could not of been likely under 30 inches in length and probably more likely longer .
This bat was much larger then any bat the author has witnessed in Canada and as well as the wing shape and color do not match most species from the area and did not look like a hoary bat, it reminded him of a Big brown bat and looked more like that species, however they are not known to get any where near the size witnessed ,neither can the author find any bat species in North America that looks exactly like what they witnessed, some look like the species however are reported to be smaller or close in size, a few species match around the size witnessed however are not known from here either and are rarely known to visit eastern north america at all ,however likely it was just some large species that is known and got wayward and may have been a very large outsized specimans, freaks do occur.
The most important to the author of a animal that is highly likely unknown to science and is his only for sure cryptozoological animal that the author clearly and with confidence knows it is real and knows it is none of the known mustela species and therefore is unknown to science.
If it is a subspecies and even if it ends up being just a tiny version of a known mustela this does not matter and should be given it's own classifcation because it is on average 1;/3 to one half smaller then the smallest weasel excepted by science.
This weasel like creature is highly likely unknown to science.
The author would like this creature to be called something like meaning dar's weasel or " Or something similar to this name depending on what family within the weasel group it will be classified as?
The darter indentification may be solved and may not be a species unknown to science although some parts do not match and still is a mystery to the author?.
However this weasel species is at bare minimum is at least a sub species and smaller version of a known weasel and not known to science and unclassified and even though it may be a isolated form of a known weasel? It still is highly different in many resepects to the known populations of Mustela Nivalis .
Mustela nivalis has never been reported in this region and is said to be the worlds smallest carnivore and even if he does inhabit the region, he still would be near bare minimum 1/3 to one half larger then the species of weasel he has witnessed.
Key differences.
They have all been much smaller then least weasels, least weasels reach"7 to near 11 inches" ,these weasels barely over 5 inches in length tops.
They have a odd full coat black color morph that least weasels are not reported to have and they may be left over from the champlain sea? they may be isolated and smaller in size and possibly a subspecies of it ?
Or possibly a unknown micro ferret? Like a tiny black footed ferret or similar weasel like species , or a tiny unknown ermine? Which it also looked like very much in detail ,except the size and color,they are all black in color with a shiny black coat ,some have small patches of white or gray in 3 of the specimans witnessed including one that was captured had it on his face, the others witnessed were all full black .
The author suspects this white patches are do to old age because they have been seen all black or with these patches at all times of year sometimes they are grayish the patches and very small in size less then maybe dime to a half a dime.
He first witnessed this animal in the 60s walking along the river fishing and it hides right beside a million people and thousands of people visit right by the door step of this creature every year and yet only a very small group of people have witnessed it with him and none of them are in to science like the author and really have no interest in the subject and all they thought about was that they were cute looking and did not understand the importance of this little animal.

I cannot get officialy anyone to confirm that any mustela lives in the region and officials claim they do not, some have been reported in the region in the past in old records, however all much larger species and only are known as visitors and no known record of Mustela nivalis, all I know is that at least this little weasel like species does.
Two of the times I witnessed this animal in the same location and one came out and smelled around the bait bucket we had that had minnows and a container of worms when I was with a friend of mine the other time by myself in the same location.
This is a real funny story and 100 percent true , forward for the Author.
Here some of the witnesses the Author got involved, here is what they recalled calling the local animal people and the events.
The author actualy touched and captured this little fellow after seeing it grab the worms and minnows one time the author then came back with a few people and he put bait out and hid behind some bushes and set up a old box and stick string trap and placed peaces of worms and minnows in a track to the box, he placed a big worm under the box and they hid behind some bushes and waited for the little fellow.
The little fellow came out and grabbed the first peace and went back down the hole, then it came out again and started going towards the next peace and then he noticed or she the big worm under the box and went and grabbed it , the author pulled the string ,the box then fell on him and he captured it.
In those days cell phones were near none existant and so the author got one of the people with him to go and phone some one for wildlife that would come and identify it, unfortunetly the author was scared of leaving the animal and wanted to guard it and sent someone who had no animal background and could not convince anyone to come and even look at the animal, the author when his friend returned was told by him that they said it must be a squarrel and to let it go.
The author thinks that if he had of went instead then he could of explained it better in forsight, any how then he decided to grab the animal with a towel he brought with him and bring it some place like the museam of man.
The then tried to slide his hand underneath the box ,the poor weasel like animal was freaking out and when he got his hand under the box chattering and screaching, then the weasel had enough opening and escaped as he touched the animal with the towel wrapped around his hand and it scooted by and slightly scratched the authors arm and escaped.
This is one of the craziest events probably in cryptozoology and probably the only cryptozoology suspected creature that was captured with a string and box and actualy touched, the author then tried to get a few officials to come and look at this animals layer with no avail, he then gave up on the matter and figured it was safer probably not even mentioning the animal ,years went buy and the author witnessed it again on the other side of the river,he scattered from a bushy spot beside a rock bank and vanished in a crevice in the rocks and renewed his interest in his little friend ,then in the last 10 years or so some recent destruction of some parts of the river shoreline being ruined prompted the author to get to the bottom of this once and for all and started going through all the weasel s known a second time to be sure and none match it at all and then he was sure this animal is unknown to science likely.
Even decades ago he checked all the sources he could find in the Libraries however he was not sure if the sources were up to date and correct,the internet was not functioning yet except maybe in a experimental level and not for typical users for many moons yet and he only checked in libraries a few sources.

I have witnessed them roughly 7 to 10 times, one time I witnessed it on more then several times in the same day and over the years sporadic sightings, also a few times with a sighting it moved so fast I could not identify for sure if it was this little fellow and I just caught a glimps of it as it was disturbed and in those cases I did not include them as sightings.
I think they would be night hunters from my small amount of sightings over the years, all most were all in the early morning ,this indicated to me that this is likely the case and only in the afternoon because we baited it.
I have been going to rivers and lakes since childhood and I am very quite and love to watch fish and animals and that is why I have seen it so many times ,however considering the amount of times going there I really only witnessed the animals once every 5 to 10 years on average.
I use to like to get up 4 to 5 in the morning and go to the river and this is when I witnessed them in over 90 percent of the times and only a few occasions was in the afternoon and these were when I had a bait bucket and seen the same animal several times in the same day ,first in the morning then baiting in front of the hole to get him to come out .
I have witnessed this animal in the fall and spring and summer and always the same color, normal least weasels are usually white or tan and much larger then these animals I have witnessed and are in always the same kind of locations rocky banks with boulders that have holes underneath them dug by other animals or in the grass beside a area like this which maygbe they hunt or hide in the day for shade I do not know?.

I know what least weasels foot prints look like and the ones i have witnessed do look like a least weasels and I have seen similar tracks over the years that I suspected could be that animal however I was not sure until more recent times
It leaves 5 toed footprints, some were four with what may have been a fifth toe impression , maybe the terrain does not allow a full fifth digit to imprint and really tiny prints around the size of a dime , they are so tiny,they weigh probably a few ounces or so maybe at most, they have the cutest little faces I have ever seen and I really do not want to see them go extinct.
I suspect there would me no more then 50 or so of these animals around the Ottawa region and probably way way less and l am guessing on available habitat in the areas I and a few others have witnessed them with me and I am hundred percent sure they exists.
The last track I witnessed of one was last fall ,I had not been in the region in a while and started looking for traces of him after a day out on walking along the water, the track I found had been smudged over by dog prints on a small beach like area , however there was a part of a print that looked like ones I found in the past and probably was one of these little fellows.
I do not go down to this area much any more now and as well as mentioned and I left the mystery alone for decades figuring the little animal would be safer left alone, however with some recent damage along the river in the last decade or so I decided I better tell the location of this animal to hopefully save it.
I know many will be skeptical of this little fellow however I assure you this animal exists and I would swear on anything this is the case .
I would like to see this animal protected, the range it lives in is in the lower Rideau river to possibly the Ottawa river, there is also some very small creeks in the region that run near these bodies of water as well, they may live along other little streams in the region and other creeks that they may inhabit as well and also possibly the upper Rideau to the jock river.
The main area I know for sure that they live in is in the lower Rideau river, people have been building slowly to the waters edge in some areas were this weasel was or may still be present.
I am sure with ought permission ,people are building little pathways to the waters edge and disturbing valuable habitat and this practice should be stopped.
If any one sees this animal then please do not disturb it or the habitat along the banks of the lower Rideau and if you continue building up this area then this animal will be doomed, it is a very small area that may over time be in danger of more development and wipe them out, there possibly could be a few areas around the main area that they may live as well and luckily most of the lower Rideau has little development on one side and the other side has some built up areas in parts.
Which one of the order of the many known mustelas it is?
That I am not sure and only study of a live animal will solve this.
However I do know it is not a squirrel, it is not a chipmunk ,it is not a rabbit, it is not a mole, it is not a rat or mouse species or any other known mammal that lives in the region or any where else I can find, it makes sounds like least weasels and behaves like them and other weasel like animals like ferrets and ermine and so on that note congratulations Ottawa we have the title as having the smallest carnivore on earth living amongst us and I imagine it would not be to hard to trap since it was already caught once with a old box and string trap,maybe with some weasel expert using a trap designed to keep them alive?
If any school teacher, field group or similar group would like to hunt for the animal? Then contact me and I will give you any information I have and hopefully maybe some young student can solve for me this little mystery and make the nations capitol on the Map of the cryptozoology find of this century, I would love to list and give a Latin name to this little amazing fellow as well.
I also encourage any ichthyologist to study the small quarry and lake off beechwood ave in Ottawa as well as the greens creek area ,there may be a couple of unknown fish species to the region or very unlikely to science in this region?
These little bodies of water and also some small creeks in the region that also contain darters sculpin and maybe even other species known or even unknown have missed our grasp and should be checked as well, the greens creek fish was in the 70s as well as the others and I have not witnessed these fish in decades and I have no idea if they still even exist? Although I do know that the information on Ottawa species of fish is not accurate in some ways and I have caught several + species that are not listed in the region yet are present however rare or are not known to inhabit the body of water .
I use to collect sculpin and small species like brindled madtoms ,stonecats- and other cat species, and other smaller species like panfish and minnow species and bring them home for study and I read recently they had discovered madtoms living in the Rideau
I chuckled to myself since I had been collecting them since childhood and had no idea they were not known to live there.
I am the first to describe the little weasel like animal and for many decades I have pondered back and forth about my little friend trying to get a few people of science from around the world to listen a few times over the decades with letters or emails with no avail and could not even get one to come and look or even discuss the subject, is it not terrible how all I am trying to do is save this little fellow from extinction and I cannot even get anyone to bother and even look.
I know for sure this much,that I am not a authority on least weasels however I do know the ones I and a few others have witnessed are black and much smaller then reported by least weasel experts and considering the least weasel is the smallest weasel in the world according to these experts and I all I know for sure is this creature is smaller and therefore my candidate for the smallest in the world is this guy and I know for a fact it exists.
What ever the case it turns out to be and considering I already know it exists and even touched the animal as it escaped my grasp and discovered it and described it first ,then I think it is only fair I get to name it.

The author will go through a huge amount of evidence about cryptids to get to the truth, the author has fully researched all the known fish and insects, mammals , and cannot find any match to a few of the animals he has witnessed, he simply figures if a animal or a few unknown to science or to the region can hide right in a downtown core of a major city and not be detected, well then possibly so can some others?
Odd sightings, one of my favorite animal stories I hear from time to time is of "Giant cat sightings" of Cougars and lynx in the region and through Canada and the USA, as well as polar bears and other bear species, tigers, lions, the list goes on and on, in fact one funny story told years ago in the later 70s was that a park near Gloucester ONT Canada off of ST laurent Blvd ,the park has a school behind it that may be closed down and a swimming pool I have not been there in decades and I do not know the official name of the park, this park although not as built up then as now was supposedly inhabited by several large Black panther like creatures 4 to 5 feet long and scared the wit's out of a local barber shop owner emall who ran a barber shop out of his house, I am not sure how the owner spelled his name, he was picking dew worms in his back yard and several monster black cats growled at him and he ran for his house in fear and was upset they were stopping him from collecting his dew worms lol.

Lynx and Cougars have been confirmed sighted in the Ottawa area and Wolves as well on odd occasions, recently two Puma cubs had been reported to be raised in the Ottawa area, also rare falcons nest on top of some of the big buildings in the city, all these have been very few in numbers except the falcons are known and their population and the other animals may not really inhabit the region on a full time bases?
The author witnessed recently a timber wolf on bank st, highway 31, the wolf was near a bridge at a bend in the road and a small thick forest is behind it, this animal came out on the side of the road the author slowed down the car and was astounded that it was a timber wolf, the authour has seen them before camping and knows them very well and no mistake could be made the animal stoped and was only 3 to 4 feet distance away from the car and went on the other side of the road and ran in to the bush there, the authour had another witness in the car that knows a person that raises wolves and she has seen and pet timber wolves and 100 percent agreed that it was a canus lupus now doubt about it and not a husky or mix purebred for sure, this is the closest that the author has ever seen a wolf near the city of ottawa, amazing how they hide.
Also recent sightings of a cougar in ottawa near green bank road several people living in this small forest area of the city have claimed to have seen a large puma, if they could catch it it would prove the eastern cougar still roams this region in rare visits.
Continue of gloucester giant black cat's
I have witnessed this park with the black panther reports and it is really small, it did have a few nooks in crannies were possibly a mid sized animal could hide in a little bushy area and interestingly there was a borough of wide width found behind one of the bushy areas, it may have been a groundhogs, although it could be possible it was used by the cats, just above this park there is a cemetery that the animal would have to cross montreal road to get to which it could do undetected at night possibly this cemetary goes in to Rockcliffe.
Then the pits area which is all built up now,years ago it was a popular party swimming hole and teenage beer drinking hangout and many teenagers loosing their virginity or vommiting in the bush from to much beer on the weekends in the at the time mosquito ridden Forest, nudists ,party people, swimmers,maybe even space aliens lol ,the whole gang use to come to this popular hangout to swim in the deep pit.
The other is mckay lake that is beside that small pit, the small lake mckay almost s reaches to the Ottawa river, then there is a small street to cross and then the Ottawa ,it is bushy and a cat could easily hide also there is a generous tract of land on the Governor generals area.
If the cats were real? Then they must of crossed maybe from the ottawa river and came from the Gatineau hills maybe? It is possible a lynx or some cat species may have crossed it got in to the cemetery at night and reached the park , this is a real leap of odd events occurring to make this cat be able to be possible of to have been seen in this park or maybe some one had some illegal pets and let them go? Anyhow no new sightings since then that I know of any one else seeing this cat or cats please email the author.
The only thing interesting is the one park they guy picked to tell the tale it actually is possible however very very remote although saying that proven real sightings like a Gray wolf was photgraphed on the vanier parkway not far from there and they do not live here either officaly and the author also sighted a timber wolf , and the photo clearly shows it is a timberwolf , solid evidence and great witnesses, the wolf has not been seen since and it is amazing how they can disapear in thin air.
This story of the giant black cat's is really hard to except however on the other hand the old man seemed really sincere and he told that story to many and everyone got the reaction he seemed to be leave what he was saying ,if there was anything to the barber shop owner story then they are gone now for sure, I have no idea what they were,it sure seems highly unlikely however after seeing a wolf myself and witnesses seeing a timber wolf downtown ottawa ,I think maybe he really did see these cats after all?.
Large Gray colored cats with huge long tails have been reported spotted in outskirts of the Ottawa region, they were a bit larger then a domestic cat and thinner and have a very long gray tail.
Three sightings in the mid eighties occurred, I have no idea if this was some kind of domestic variety or maybe odd cross breed but for some reason I could see this being real so many animals and especially dogs and cat species cross breed with other cat species also there may be a few wild cat pets that some one had, no sightings that I have found of them in over 20 years this is why I think they may have been a few pets of someones that were maybe some kind of wild cat and seen for a short period of time.
The sightings were on the outskirts of Ottawa Ont Canada.

Tales of huge thunderbirds by native indians along the ottawa river as well several sightings of huge birds by even white folk have been witnessed near the ottawa region,one fellow reported witnessing a huge eagle with a 10 foot+ wingspan , it was carrying off a small deer over clayton lake area, natives tell of huge birds flying off with deer and children in many countries around the world.

One nice lady I know has cute backyard with a little forest, it is full of gnome statues and little trees bushes, wild exotic kinds of flowers and they have many species listed of birds that have never been reported in Ottawa region and this shangrilla simply must attract birds that happen to get off course and land in the region, it has so much to offer they come there for the food and feeders for shelter and of the diverse tiny forest.
The owner has a hi paying position in a major company and is highly schooled in his craft and a excellent observer and he has never made anything about his bird sighting known I seen his list by accident and I researched some of the birds and some are not known in the region as living here and he does not know they are not known in the region he simply likes marking the species he sees, so he is the best witness you can get.
One that has no interest in the subject and no knowledge of it and is marking it down for his own records and not sharing it with others just himself and he has birds not known in this region, why would someone make this up of course this could in anyway not be possible it makes no sense of course therefore he seen what he had put down on his notes no doubt.
Animals can hide easily and can get off course as well and just visit the region for a short time or they could be species that are exotic that got out of crates and what have you, if you think about it crates come from all corners of the earth and what if a baby lizard crawls in to a crate it gets shipped somehow lives through the trip and then is transported to were ever and simply crawls out of the crate and goes to the nearest place that would be suitable for it and maybe some survive for a while.
A huge tiger was seen around Rockland OnT On the main street, of course at first no one thought he was telling the truth but it ended up it was real it escaped from a near by zoo.
A huge gray wolf as mentioned above was spotted and photographed on the Vanier parkway in Ottawa ONT Canada and if you know this area, this is amazing that a wolf could get there and not of been spotted along the way, also coyotes have been eating dogs in Barrhaven area, sightings of coyotes previous to this recent event was almost none.
There is also the possibility with other sightings that some are none native species that was a pet and some how was let go or escaped and survived, this does happen,there is numerous stories around Pembroke of wild kangaroo sightings and possum sightings and even in some areas odd cat like creatures as well.
Wild boars and turkeys have been spotted in Ont and other places they are not supposed to inhabit, since then they have reintroduced wild turkeys in eastern Ont and also there have been numerous lynx and cougar sightings as well as wolves in areas they are not supposed to inhabit.
A giant Asian Grass carp was spotted in the Don river off of Lake ON a few years ago and many other odd sightings of misplaced animals have been seen in the province of ON.
This monster snake was witnessed by a helicopter pilot in Africa in the second world war era, tests done show this animal was at least 40 feet long to 50 feet ,that is actually a road with trees ,rocks etc you are looking at taken from the helicopter, the pilot was a well respected individual and I fully think he was telling the truth ,no known snake in Africa or anywhere by that matter is excepted at being over 34 feet although specimens shot have been measured over 100 feet long in south America according to old newspaper accounts, this species in Africa is a mystery as to what species it was.
Giant 5 foot to 10 foot + black snakes.
Giant black water snakes, these have reported in several lakes in On and Quebec, one story of a 8 foot black water snake caught by kids in Charleston lake from the 60s, also in other areas across the world similar larger then normal local snake varieties, some maybe a unknown variety of giant water snake and are reported to be up to 10 feet in length with a few up to 20 feet in Canada with one story of 30 foot one captured in Beckwith ONT although this one was reported to be a Rat snake or Anaconda for details read world wide , local sightings in most areas are rare or let loose aquarium species.
Several odd reports from Christi lake and Bobs lake in On and odd tales of huge 6 foot to 10 foot plus black water snakes Two of them that where almost identical stories, I knew one and was introduced to the other , I am flabbergasted that they tell the same tale except the lake is different, every were I go I strike up conversations with people about camping, fishing ,hunting, although I am not a hunter I do it in the hope of a story may come out.
If you pick subjects and get talking about I seen a bear etc they some times can lead to as a matter of fact one time I seen a huge wolf or whatever and this is how I get much info by asking people questions that I think will lead to a possible sighting story of course 99 percent of the time you get nothing but every once in a while you will hear a interesting tale.
The first one a fellow named Gordy with his sighting in the 40s and the other was a lady who is a very good artist in the Ottawa region in the 70s witnessed a large black snake that was at least 9 to 12 feet in length and a huge girth and that some locals knew of this huge snake and had told tales of it by the campfire, neither could confirm if sightings are still going on and so maybe some sightings could be of a unknown species or known species of snake that should not live this far north or maybe water snakes the odd time reach much larger size then is known or they may be a subspecies and this is why they have not been discovered although usually speaking subspecies are often smaller ,maybe specimens have been caught and were smaller in size and mistaken for water snakes that may be a unknown species of huge water snake?
Giant black Anaconda type snakes have been reported in ONT Canada as well, in a town called Beckwith ONT Canada, one was supposed to have been captured and was reported to be 30 feet long there is a large species of black snake known to reach up to near 8 feet that is indigenous to this area, if the size reported was true then it is way beyond any known north American snake and is at the top end of the largest snakes on earth so this species must have been if real unknown to science?
What I found amazing was that neither of these people know each other from the bob and christi lake sightings, yet there stories was almost identical maybe urban legend however knowing them I doubt it.
The Ottawa valley region has a healthy amount of mysteries from the ultra rare sightings of the Ottawa River Anomaly to hauntings UFOS and all kinds of odd stories many are UFO this is the most common 5 space ship were reported along the Ottawa river a giant orange ball attacked a airplane over the Gatineau.
There is so may stories there hard to keep track of them all.
Local museums, several of them are reportedly haunted even a apartment in Vanier Ont is reportedly haunted, most likely from the left over fumes from the Famous Little beaver super drinking hole after it caught on fire and burned down , maybe the ghost was upset his or her drinking hole was gone lol and many people have claimed ghost sightings in the region.
Many more like the polish village is haunted, not far from Ottawa a girl died named Stefania and people say she haunted the house some think she committed suicide or was murdered no one knows?
The Mill restaurant near the parliament buildings just along the bridge is supposed to be haunted, one thing I do know for sure they make a good haunting roast beef lol.
My favorite ghost story is not in the capitol region but in Quebec, this Rotten Ronies is reported to be haunted by a ghost ,maybe all that hundred percent pure beef it is smelling making it howl lol or maybe it is the left over sounds from the after gas of a few mega meals.
Another rotten ronies although in Texas is reported to be haunted as well ,it tries and escapes by opening up the freezers at night and also flushing toilets, it may be the ghost of a ill customer from engulfing 10 mega boxes of fries and 7 burgies lol and always living in a ever flushing world of perpetual "MCralphing" this should be a new word in the dictionary of the spirit world with cases of ghost flushing the john on a frequent bases lol.
One haunted park and building is over on the Quebec side, it is beside a old burial site and a old church ,the park has had many wittinesses such as joggers etc that have claimed they were chased by a ghost, I do not remember this moment the street it is off.
I witnessed this park and it is really super creepy lol.
Another old monastery in Quebec is reported to be haunted, the old youth hostel in down town Ottawa witnesses report objects have been thrown around on the third floor and they even have a haunted tour and screams in the night are heard.
Pembroke, the Champlain museum wittinesses have seen phantoms walking around and the woods have kangaroo and possum sightings over the years.
The beck house in Penetanguishean or how ever the heck you spell that lol was owned by a lumber mill man and his daughter has been spotted looking in the window ,this same phenomena is reported in the Manotic mill on the Rideau.
I heard a story from Appleton Ont of a mill that was there that was haunted, it burned down years ago, I have only heard one story there may be more.
Another story is that a Gazebo in Ottawa is haunted in a little park near Rideau street area it is just past the Rideau st bridge leaving Vanier ONT on the right hand side there is a turn on to Laurier st that is beside the old barracks which was haunted as well if you go down that road the park is just a few blocks away .
Even a flying cat was reported in the early 20th century in Ottawa as well these animals are actually real as you can see in the above picture,it is thought to be caused by a extra skin growth that then has hair grow on it thus making it look like wings, a few have been reported to glide a few feet and even a few flying these are very unlikely.
The animals are real but they highly unlikely can not fly or glide very far if at all, one was even in a zoo in Cincinnati , other odd anomalies in Canada, raining objects have been reported like little fish, frogs ,meat and many other odd forms.
Flying saucer reports are some what common, even some character's had evidence of a space ship landing near Ottawa and a secret head courters the whole dew and they may take over the world any minute.
The sighting was on the out skirts of Ottawa, it shows in the film this round flashing object out in this field probably a old set of disco lights from some burnt out hippies place from the 70s lol or maybe it is real ? lol ,it was investigated by local researchers and it is thought by most to be phony, they claim, many flying saucer reports and clear films are done all over the world many can be found on the net ,you can find thousands of these and some are very convincing and many more are phony.
One famous case over the bonaventure hotel in 1998 was reported witnessed by army airforce and law enforcment agents of many groups and was thought to be the size of 18 football fields in size and hovered for hours above the hotel.
When it left other witnesses report it flying away that were driving, this case is still totally unsolved and no known ship on earth could be such a size therefore maybe we really have been vistied by aliens? Or we have secrets of governments making spaceships that would take thousands of people and computers and factories to make and could not be kept a secret of such a huge size and not get some leak and sure makes you wonder?
Many groups are out there that claim they have been contacted by aliens or who knows may have been captured by space aliens? lol
Anyhow if there really is space aliens then I hope they can make us all younger and more perfect and live forever and pay all our bills and solve all our problems.

They already have this device in testing trials in the USA on a volunteer bases, they may have us all with these little devices and monitoring how many times you stand up and get a woody and burp toot, how many times you make love with your woman or man, speaking of political correctness I had to say inter-course this way or the crazy search engines will think im a wild site lol ,talk about silly,or have inter-course with your partner or what ever the case these days , how many times you argue and how many times you go get food ,beer cigarettes even counting how many grannies go to bingo you name it lol.
I could see them even monetering what language you speak and in areas were they make it officialy two languages that you would pay fines for saying ja instead of yes or yes instead of ja when you did not address the person in their official language of choice lol, all that gang I am sure would get in on that action and would require plenty of waste of money for who ever would be in power following everyone around and then who would follow the followers?

If you were being offered by men and women to aliens at least in both cases the aliens and humans in fantasy need to be hot or none scary or some are scary and so since all people are different in tastes of what hot or scary is and there for you would think that aliens if made up they then would take on many forms from their partners to hideous monsters or if they were real and a person was being experiment on for mating purpose their mind may force it self to imagine some one that would turn them on to lesson the nightmare experience as a protective mechanism .
This may explain all the odd stories you hear of alien abductions of all sorts, most though are the little guys with big wide eyes, maybe because they are kind of uni-sexual in a way? They may not frighten the mind showing themselves in this form or others just see shows were one reports they look like this and their imagination allows them to make this up or dream it and convince themselves it is real or for attention or if real maybe to lessen the terrifying experience by imaginingand this is what they look like yet maybe they looked much different?
Many reports of hot women and men figure space aliens doing experiments etc , who knows what these space aliens really look like? If they are real and some one may then really know if a space alien allowed them to see what they look like if they befriended them, it really is not that improbable of a theory since there is millions of planets out there is it logical to assume we are not the only ones and maybe aliens are running the show lol?
If a group of aliens let loose information to high ranking people of what ever countries or if a alien took a shine to someone and told them things, theoretically then they could invent things ahead of our time ,this may be happening areas like 51 make you wonder? That be a hoot run by aliens lol.

One interesting thing I watched this show with these doctors that have found objects of unknown material in side of people in x-rays ,some have been made of metals not of this earth and how could these metals be in side them with some showing of scars some even not having scars and the scars if present are odd and not made by ordinary tools of surgery in many cases, very odd to say the least or maybe it is all just some mass hoax?
Although many cases turn out to be sliveers of metal or wood and not from alian origins.
Could it be that teams of surgeons are knocking people out and finding metals from outer space and putting them in patients to start a UFO conspiracy hmm sounds kind of more unbelievable then the aliens?
Who knows these and many more sociological questions need to be answered or maybe the dreaded men in Black are some how implanting them on people or maybe it really is aliens the world is a mystery and many unsolved puzzles.

More odd sightings.
The museum of nature in Ottawa has had guards run in terror out of that building and refuse to work any more at night with creepy cold spots reported on the higher floors.
I have been in there and it has a creepy feeling to it lol ,also Sir Wilfred Laurie house and many more have ghost reports.
I love the stories of them however I do not think I could prove they are real .
However it is not that hard to imagine life on another planet and why not?
What is the odds of only one planet having life? probably very slim and ghosts well I am not sure about them , I could see it being possible and it is a interesting subject however the odds of you proving it is slim to none.
I applaud the people that catalog these stories they should there important and who knows maybe some day some one will get a real clear film that can stand up to scrutiny.
Animal and other odd sightings have occurred all over the world, which proves that humans and animals some times do things they normally do not and show up in places they normally would not be in do to many factors maybe shortage of food water etc.
Odd fish or animals not known in an area,some from more my neck of the woods.
Fish and other animals have been found in many out of place areas a Piranha was found dead in Dows lake
Several ling cod in Mississippi lake, ministry people have never ever heard of one living in this lake, in the Ottawa river, Atlantic salmon and other rare visitors have been caught, even lake trout, Rainbow trout and Brook trout, although officially none of these fish inhabit it.
The author personally has captured many huge fish in the region and around North America and loves tales of giant fish and has spent many decades of research on local and none local fish species.
Drum several have been caught in the canal and the ministry recorded the capture of a Drum in the upper section of the Rideau , they are not known to exist in the Rideau at all and considering they have been netting and sampling fish species for many many moons in this region again then this goes to show species can be in waters that are not known by the scientific community of the region, as a for instance many years the sampling of the Ottawa river never included largemouth bass and were not considered to live in the Ottawa River yet they have had bass tournaments for around several decades on the river and before that some legendary stringers of bass pulled out of the Ottawa when logging still occurred were tales of legend and true, the bass were so virgin that some areas of the Ottawa back waters produced huge stringers of bass on average often over 25 lbs for 6 fish limits and recorded to over 37 pounds which is probably the largest stringer of 6 bass in canadian waters ever captured by one angler or a team, if you culled through the day, these were not tournament settings, bass tournaments were not on the river yet and only smaller less organized tournaments and ice fishing tournaments were held back in those days.
Reports of bass acting like they never witnessed a lure before were common for some of the few local anglers that spent time on the river, in the old logging days it was very dangerous on the river then and you would destroy motors easily.
Many photographs of giant stringers of largemouth and numerous other species the author and other river rats captured in the heyday of the Ottawa, photos of a 61 inch muskie and a 36-1/2 inch walleye.
Once logging disappeared the river started getting more and more traffic and build up, there is still good fishing to be had but those legendary stringers are not as easy today to reach however every year some 20 to 25 pound plus stringers and some bass have been captured to near 9 lbs in the Ottawa.
Another local angler use to troll for largemouth in the backwaters and often caught limits of 20lb to 25lbs of bass trolling with simple lures back in the 70s and 80s and at the time the ministry still said they do not exist lol.
You have to admit sometimes officials really are not aware of all the species in the region.
Brown and Rainbow trout were even reported captured in the Rideau canal and shad and other odd natural and none native aquarium related species, the old we cannot kill him George lets let that man eating piranha down at the canal routine lol.
Rare suckers have been reported captured from the canal ,one was taken to a museum expert in Ottawa in the 70s, it was identified as a spotted bar sucker that was captured in the canal that was not reported in Canadian waters since the 1800s , numerous odd species of fish are reported from time to time.
Bowfin ,these ancient fish have been spotted in the Montreal region of lake of 2 mountains and two from the turn of the century area in the Ottawa museum that was collected and a few other obscure areas , one in Rockland ON Canada caught on the Ottawa River and one across from rideau falls caught with a shinner in a small bay at night time.
There is a photo of one captured in down town Ottawa area and the only photo in existance of the ottawa river bowfin amia calva ,The Ottawa River Bowfin is one of the rarest species inhabiting it with only 4 recorded captured and a few sightings in the last 200 years.
Many kinds of other odd species have showed up like American shad.
Even tiny bodies of water can hold man eating monsters .
One small pond in Australia found miles from any water system has some kind of underground tunnel that leads to a far off river that leads to the ocean,a man got eaten alive going swimming in this tiny pond ,divers found several large bull sharks later while looking for the presumed drowned man ,speaking of Australia I want to say what a sad day, the day I found out Steve Irwin died more on that below.
I loved the passion in this amazing individual, who I think his love for animals and our forests was beyond anyone I have ever seen, I love them more than anyone I have ever met myself and even some of things I witnessed Steve do I would be Leary to say the least and down right terrified of others lol, the passion glowed right in his face and his lovely wife and family now are going to carry on his passion and teach the world about the animals around them and how important it is to save them, what a fantastic human being he was, he will be truly missed by so many.
My favorite shows of his was 3 different episodes that were so funny ,yet so informative and just down right full of massive entertainment , the first one he is walking along and this huge giant king cobra stands right up and starts hissing at Steve and he starts running - walking backwards, on no by crocy I think he is right mad or something like that and he was moving backwards while this crazy snake is trying to get him, it was scary and yet at the same time the faces he would make would get you to laugh even though the situation was scary you knew he was going to be ok because he was the Crocodile man.
The other one he is in some bush, I can't remember where and he finds this cute little lizard , he starts petting it and it bites him right on the nose and he says something like oh by crocy he is biting me, oh my he is really angry, oh oh ,no he is chomping on my nose, meanwhile he is telling us how great this animal is and it is his fault the lizard is biting him, he was more interested in making sure we realized how great the animal was then being concerned about his own nose it seemed like and I loved that about him.
The other show he was in Tasmania and he was talking about people that witnessed thylacines , I kind of suspect he may of thought they are still around, something about the look he had when he talked about them gave me the feeling he did, I could be wrong , I am sure Steve would of loved to rediscover them or some animal by the way which he did, update Steve by accident fishing in a river discovered a new species of turtle, it now has a Latin name basically meaning” Irwins turtle” , he was one of the few although not officially known as a cryptozooligist- he was however a real zoologist and to have discovered a species unknown to science , this is a great honor and I am sure he would of protected them as well.
I am sure any scientist's even though out right telling you that Bigfoot is not real, if he or she found one, I am sure they would be super excited by the find of the century.
Steve was said to be fantastic family man ,some made controversy about him having his kids around dangerous animals , I think he was very responsible , his business was crocodiles and other animals that could be dangerous ,if you have children that are going to be in this environment, it would be logical to assume that they would need to be around animals and learn what is dangerous and what is not, imagine if they did not show the children the dangers of Crocodiles,if a Crocodile happens to come along they may not know how to escape or may freeze , if being taught at a young age to respect them and know their habits, this would make the child much more safer and that is why Steve I am sure survived through many ordeals because he was put around them at a young age with his father and learned about them .
I encourage everyone around the world to help in Steve's causes to save our planet, I am so deeply concerned about our animals, we are closing in on the last great mysteries and the forests are being ripped down at a huge speed .
We need countries every where to stop the massive use of drag nets that are cleaning out the oceans at a horrific speed, animals are being forced to live with humans because their homes have been drained and ripped out for development, we are ripping out their migration, resting and feeding areas at a horrific pace as well.
Many animals are going extinct by the day just about, many before they can even get a scientific name ,now of course it is not all dome and gloom .
Some areas actually have animals getting in higher numbers then historical times, the stronger species will survive and the most adaptable, the common weaker groups go extinct first like small organisms and plants that had a tiny geographical area, never the less some large animals have been likely made extinct or close to it, there always is some stragglers and if really lucky they can get numbers back years later and be discovered ,many wont be either sadly ,other areas in danger Australian fauna, African ,South American, Asian and just about any other you can think of area around the world, many are in mortal danger ,for some species others may be better then before because the others are being wiped out and they take over their areas .
Can you imagine a world soon with ought the mighty Bangel Tiger? Or the mighty Lion? Or the amazing Dolphins of the Yangtze river, it means yellow river in English if your curious type ,Or the Polar bear ,the Yangtze dolphins chance of survival is not good according to reports first it was reported extinct now a film emerged and proves it is not.
We do need animals, if we did not have them then the soil would not be very nourished , we need bees to pass the pollen or then the plants would die ,right now bees are disappearing and have scientist worried if this continues we then eventually would have nothing to eat , as you can see we must work harder on this , establish more protected forest areas and huge ones for some species, some species In order to live properly need large expanses of wilderness such as some bear species their territory can be massive .
If you still wont help, then watch that old creepy movie soil&green or close to that I have not seen it in many moons, it is with Charleston Heston it is about when the world burns out its resources close to what we are doing now, although were not that bad yet , the vision of that film maker and writers was not that far fetched, I wont get in to the plot and ruin it for people that have not seen it, now it is exaggerated , the idea sure hits home save our planet or something not that different from that movie could occur.
With green houses and what have you, I am sure man could fight through it ,why do that and suffer and live in man created environments to keep us alive ,can we not all share the planet with these wonderful creatures.

More weird animals&fish
Pacu, this is a South American relative of piranha they have been caught in lake Ontario, especially the Pickering nuclear dam and piranhas have been found dead and caught as well there on more then one occasion.
Plecostamous, a popular bottom feeding tank fish, have been caught many times in lake Simcoe by ice fisherman after whitefish,Giant armored catfish and walking catfish and numerous other odd species like snake heads from Asia have been spotted and captured in North America.
A Nile Monitor lizard was spotted on a golf course in Florida around 8 or 9 feet long many of these Nial monitors have been even been photographed in Florida, Georgia and several other states.
Bubble eye goldfish and fancy tails, wild goldfish and several other pet fish have been captured or spotted in Dows lake and the Rideau canal even a Oscar fish.
More Black panther sightings,these animals have been proven to live in England and have been captured in the US and other places as well, the reason I put this small section in was to show how even on land these animals can hide easily yet they are real in many cases, eastern cougars have probably never been extinct and simply small groups have spread slowly through old territory or never fully left it ,either case they surely are real.
Black Cat like animals that are way larger than domestic varieties have been spotted and photographed and filmed in Canada and the US and many times, they proved recently that there is a form of black cougars living in Florida.
One several summers ago on a Toronto station was shown, it looked very much like a Black Panther or Jaguar,many are reported in almost every province and State and I am sure there is a small population of these animals living well in the North American Continent as well over in Europe.
Now even though many are reported black, what may be happening is some are black panthers ,many may be pumas under low light conditions and making them look dark or black.
Some of the animals from other countries can live in the Colder Canadian environment, many escaped pets have occurred over the years ,one case a lady bought a jacket in Toronto and she put it on and she got stung to death by scorpions in a major department store ,many people own exotics and have let them loose in england, wild monkeys ,orangutans , wallabies, wild boar, even some animals that are near extinct in their native lands and all these are well documented groups of animals living wild in England , if it can happen there , then there is no reason to think it could not happen in other places.
This has occurred many times even alligators crocodiles and other odd pet lizards, snakes have been captured far north as New York in the US, and several provinces in Canada over they years.
Also ask yourself? Can big animals hide, of course they can, how many people live near a moose or deer areas and never see one.
For example we all know that moose exists in North America, yet I have been on the water and in the forests all my life and I have only witnessed 4 moose ,one time one was actually in downtown Ottawa trying to run on to the Queensway.
In the 70s this crazy moose was running around the streets of Ottawa and was captured with a tranquillizer, I witnessed it in front of me , it was huge with massive rack and goes to show animals will do odd things from time to time.
The other time I witnessed a male and female and young one swimming across this small lake in Quebec, from a distance they did look like they blended together and some people may have thought it was a monster if they were there in the area and from far away, now some people are Moose hunters and have witnessed way more then myself , they know the areas to search for them and wait patiently for them to appear, however even hunters many go by seasons and never witness one.
The moral of this is a Moose is a huge creature and not often spotted except if they have heavy populations in the area, and they do fine and can hide from humans most of the time ,even if they are in heavy used areas ,this shows that animals can live near by yet even large ones can hide.
They’re not always extinct.
A massive sturgeon found dead in the Tampa bay area and was thought to be extinct in this region since the 1800s. Florida officials were excited by this find and are wondering if this fish got lost or are there still specimens traveling up rivers around Tampa bay to spawn, so this proves right here that giant out sized specimens can be found way out of known range or maybe in this case can hide detection and have maybe been in the region all along.
If you know anything about the huge amount of people that sport fish in Florida, it is amazing all this time that not one has been captured, so like I said this really validates in a way that species can inhabit a heavily used area and not be detected, so all you skeptics including me put that in your pipe and smoke it.
I love when they say a animal is extinct and then find it after nothing excites me more just about in this subject. I find we as people tend to be very firm often in our thoughts about a subject and often we are so sure in our theories that we do not allow common sense often to prevail.
The most intelligent people can be like this and this is not a insult about man kind it simply is that we are programed to be like this .so many shims and scams and the older you get the more scenic you become and society makes us this way.
Why is it that every time a scientific group do a survey and then say a animal is extinct because they did not spot one, this is really bizarre to me, lets use just a simple idea, you as a scientist have been brought to study animals in a thick forest of Brazil and from your old records they record that a species of monkey was discovered in 1857 with only one skull in a collection some where with a Latin name or maybe not even named yet and probably sitting on a shelf collecting dust , you go and you make camp and of course this makes noise, you then light fires, set up night cameras, what ever, these animals may simply once they hear or smell humans go in to thick forest and not come back to that spot for ages.
Numerous people are typically in these parties, hired natives etc, now animals can hear you from many miles some times and simply avoid you, you go through the area, you investigate, you find no sign of the monkey and call it extinct, well this seems so illogical to me and I am sure many people as well, you have this massive forest you go through the area with people that make noise, you smell and can be sensed by animals from a far distance, you have everything against you and it really is a miracle we discover as many species as we do.
Also the time of year you come may not be the habitat of the animal at that time of year, they must be rare or have odd habits for only one skull to be in a collection or even ones were they have plenty of collections just because you go and do not find any does this really mean they are gone?
Animals can hide in even the most urban settings and elude us for some times ages.
Many animals may be night creatures or very rare in the first place and almost never scene by natives and just because some one goes through a area does not mean the animal is still not present ,often even no traces of these animals can be found and all of a sudden one expedition will find them again and declare them alive “10 20 30 40 50 “,even hundreds of years later found in the same habitat that hundreds of searches have been to in the past.
I really am amazed that they list them so fast extinct, they should have another terminology called" PE " possibly extinct ,I find this to me would be much easier terminology and after a reasonable time of 50 to hundred years call them extinct if no sign can be found ,every year many species are put on the chopping block of extinction and then keep showing up alive much later and we should not list them like this because then there is no protection for a animal that is extinct and no funding to protect it's habitat either likely.
I really would hope scientist adopt this sort of idea world wide, I first put this idea forward in the early 90s and the Internet was not really a option for average people yet to get this idea to millions, now that some groups have some idea like this in a way to give still protection in case they may still be and to have a law that if any animal that was listed as extinct is found alive then a so many hectors of land or what ever is needed should be protected by law the day it is found again, the part of the law goes in to effect immediately to stop greedy people from exploiting the animals.
Humanity induced extinction, this has happened to many species were they were low in numbers and then museums wanting specimens send groups out galore to collect these specimens, offering large sums of money in some cases and then natives will hunt these things down and make large sums of money, much more then they could make 9 to 5 ,then the creature being collected , will actually go extinct, this is not right, I hope that natives realize they are destroying their own lively hood by doing this ,you may make a quick buck but if your enterprising you could take photos and sell them or guide and only dead animals found of natural death or by run over etc should be allowed to be sold to museums unless it is proven the species is high in numbers and a full evaluation as to how many should be hunted per year or what ever the scientist think is best for the species concerned.
Also the poor practice of some people in many countries of poaching rare animals like the Tiger etc, many cultures think these animal parts have magic powers, remember any ailment they claim a tiger or bear or other creatures sold for medicine can cure can be found in other less rare animals or other less rare plants or made synthetic or even better from a renewable natural source that will do better and actually do work for some ailments, the people poaching you can understand they are poor natives, often the people buying it is the ones that really should be stopped and the traders in this practice.
Even though many including myself are against the live animal trade ,sending specimens to zoos etc, however there is a plus to this ,many species considered extinct in the wild have been reintroduced because of finding specimens in private collections and mating them and saving them , in a odd sense sometimes this has actually saved the species so maybe a small amount unless numbers are ultra low should be put in other similar place with same habitat in case the wild ones are wiped out..
Giant gators
One story told at a cottage years ago a wife and husband got in to the sauce and told over 20 people.
They claimed they seen a pack of giant alligators in the Nation River near Castleman ON, now of course hearing this I laughed the idea of giant alligators living in the Nation River is beyond silly it is a narrow river although it has little boat or cottage traffic.
I find it amazing that alligators some how could live in there, it is barely wider then the Rideau canal, maybe this case is just to many beers? On the other hand it does go in to the Huge Ottawa River maybe they did see something and even odder a report from the nation river was reported in a book about odd sightings so there is actually 2 stories out there that I can track maybe they really did see something weird?
A huge elephant seal as captured in the ottawa river in the 1800's and also a ice fisherman snagged a 5 foot porpoise in the ottawa river, how it got in there is a mystery.
Mwhaaa the Gatineau beast rarely reported in the Gatineau hills.
Next Local sightings the idea of Sasquatch, if these tales are real then roaming Sasquatch like creatures are around Ottawa and Gatineau , this is so bizarre that it is highly highly unlikely ,although technically not impossible especially the Gatineau hills or up in the more forest regions of the upper Ottawa valley , it really takes a massive stretch of imagination to allow this to be and so I really do not take these local sightings as any real evidence at all and I do not think they are real however I have learned over time that some times the impossible can occur .
